Ramifications of the Draft Conversion Practices Bill
: A ScotPAG Holyrood Event 23rd September 2026 Part One
ScotPAG is much obliged to Murdo Fraser MSP for hosting ScotPAG’s biggest event yet at Holyrood. We welcomed a wide range of guests. We witnessed and engaged in a great deal of thoughtful and considered dialogue. One is tempted to observe that those in attendance engaged in much more meaningful and constructive discussion than is generally witnessed throughout the year at Parliamentary sessions!
The Westminster draft Bill merits serious consideration by Scottish individuals for two key reasons; one is that the draft bill is quite simply, disastrously flawed which, if implemented, risks criminalising parents, compromising professionals and will pursue a homophobic agenda. Secondly, although the draft bill is for England and Wales, it will, if implemented, affect Scottish society at all levels from education to social work to individual rights and safeguarding.
Having lost the battle regarding the definition of sex established by the Supreme Court ruling, (April 16th 2025), the draft bill is the latest attempt by activists and useful idiots to steer the fake concept of gender identity into legislation. The draft bill has nothing to do with stopping the persecution or conversion of gay individuals and everything to do with the suppression of common sense and free speech. In effect, it is a bogus and erroneous
solution in search of a problem.

The old adage of throw a stone in a puddle and watch the myriad of ripples is indeed relevant to the many points raised by the ScotPAG panel. The many harms already caused to children and families, professionals, free speech and organisational cultures were highlighted. These harms have been created by the adherence of our public institutions and social media to a faulty, contested and theoretical ideology.

The presentations caused much food for thought and the attendees’ responses and participation was clearly knowledgeable, intelligent and concerned. Such meetings need to be beamed into mainstream public awareness!
