Isn't honesty always the best policy?

ScotPAG challenges Jenni Minto and her claims about gender ideology not being promoted in schools


Jenni Minto (Minister for Public Health) either does not understand the implications of the Cass Review or is wilfully ignoring it. On September 3rd 2024, she stated to the Scottish Parliament,


‘Children and young people are not taught about their own gender ideology in schools.’


What does the statement, ‘…their own gender ideology’ even mean? And why has Minto used such curious phrasing? What would a child understand about a concept that is entirely false anyway? There is no evidence that the concept of gender identity is valid, and it is entirely at odds with decades of psychological research about child development.


There are extensive examples of gender ideology not only being taught in school but also being actively promoted in schools from primary 1 onwards. It is taught across the curriculum in pretty much all subject areas. It is taught in Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood (RSHP) See 'Being Transgender' below



It is taught via school activities including school assemblies. It is promoted via youth groups such as LGBTYS which contribute to school procedures, events, planning and staff training.

The Scottish Government’s guidance for schools, Supporting transgender pupils in schools, promotes a gender ideological approach in schools in various ways, and uses statements such as children can change sex, and ‘assigned at birth’. This guidance is used by teachers across Scotland.

"Babies can't talk, so grown-ups make a guess by looking at their bodies"

This guidance recommends only a gendered ideological approach which it teaches as fact.

ScotPAG’s view is that gender ideology has no place in schools and is harmful to children’s psychological development.
